The act of procrastination by means of assuming the role of a terrorist or counter-terrorist, and attempting to kill all of the other people doing likewise who are not on your team, by means of clicking on their head.

Spore Gameplay Video

AJ posted a link to this to me, and I have to say it looks absolutely phenomenal. Maxis have evidently come a long way since SimCity.

Insomnia, Bejewelled And The Love Of My Life

Insomnia - I love stock photographs! All 3 in one week! Aren’t I the lucky boy?

Well, as for the first 2, I can say I’m certainly not lucky. For the past 2 days I’ve been pretty much unable to sleep - on Sunday night I only managed to doze off around 4.30am; last night I only managed to get off around 3am. I spent most of the time lying awake wondering why I wasn’t asleep, which probably didn’t help matters at all. Sometimes I just can’t turn off my thoughts.

The other problem I’ve had this week is that during my time off school (thanks to a niggling throat infection) I’ve become addicted once more to Bejeweled. Those of you with MSN/Windows Live Messenger will probably have played it once or twice - I did too a while back. Then I played it more, and more. Eventually I got a score of 114k, (old account I’m afraid), and remained addicted for a good while. Yesterday I started playing again, and it’s worryingly addictive.

But, now to the positive side: tomorrow Caley’s coming over! I will doubtless spend many hours lying in my lover’s arms, just happy that she’s there, while my mother doubtless sits in the next room playing Spider Solitaire, listening (whether intentionally or not, I’m not certain) through our thin plaster walls to what may end up as somewhat dubious noises. But life is good.

Edit: Let me rephrase that last sentence. Life is good, unless you’re trying to sleep with retainers. Good night.

Back To School

AGS's FinestSo unfortunately, tomorrow I will have to pack my bag and haul my arse back to school, as Christmas officially comes to an end (as far as Buckinghamshire County Council is concerned). But, the Christmas holidays held a good number of fun times for me and company, mainly with friends and family.

For the past few days I’ve been playing Transport Tycoon Deluxe (OpenTTD) non-stop on our new dedicated server, hosted by the almighty Borax. A couple of days ago, I had some relatives over, so I was enlisted to look after their 2 young children, who despite being incredibly cute are also incredibly annoying. So, after spending about an hour searching for additional PlayStation controllers, I had to sit and give them a chance at Crash Team Racing, and try my absolute hardest not to beat them.

After that day of hero-worship from my cousin’s children came New Year’s Eve, on which I went to work for a half-day, then Lloyd and family came over for dinner. I drank far too much, having finished Lloyd’s beer twice because he wasn’t quite well enough to drink properly, and then we played GT3 endurance for a good couple of hours. After the countdown, we watched Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. Now there is an annoying little cunt, and he is also a rather mediocre pianist with the charisma of cod in breadcrumbs.

Waking up on New Year’s Day at 9am with a thumping head and Lloyd snoring on the floor, I started to regret drinking quite so heavily. But, by 1pm and after a miracle of navigation, Caley arrived at my front door with a hug and everything was better. She then proceeded to absolutely kick my arse at Crash Team Racing, proving my point that she’s actually a closet console gamer. We had some quality time watching movies on my computer (when it managed not to bluescreen), and after that she passed the test of surviving dinner with my parents.

At 8pm, her mum picked her up and then I remembered I had a hangover and my head started thumping again. So, I played OTTD for another good few hours, and finally at 2am I decided to take some painkillers, and everything was fine again. Yesterday I went over to Caley’s for the afternoon, and she whooped me at Crash Nitro Karts, and then knackered me in the colloquial sense of the word.

Today, I managed to get up at 2pm, after having played OTTD into the small hours of the morning (again, curse it’s addictivity!) Of course, I should really be writing my physics coursework as we speak, but writing a long-winded blog about my life is much more fulfilling to me, probably because it doesn’t involve the coefficient of friction of snowboards with different kinds of wax. Oh, oh the joy I shall be facing later.
